A Guardian ad Litem (GAL) is a court-appointed neutral professional who investigates a child’s living situation and advocates for the child’s best interests in cases like divorce or custody disputes. When appointed by the court, BSPN Guardian Ad Litems will investigate and report back to the court a comprehensive view of the child’s best interests.
Supervised visitation helps families through difficult or transitional times by providing a safe space for children to maintain or rebuild a relationship with their non-custodial parent.
Bitterroot Safe Parenting Network conducts visits in neutral, child-friendly, community settings. We strive to provide an authentic parent-child experience. Procedures are implemented to maintain distance between parents at drop off and pick up times. These procedures ensure children are not witness to parental conflict. All parties can feel confident that children will be kept physically and emotionally safe during visits. Because the supervisor can verify what happened during their time together, visiting parents are protected from new accusations.
We coordinate schedules to find visitation times that work for everyone involved.
A safe exchange is a supervised transfer of a child from one parent to the other, designed to prevent escalation of conflict and minimize potential harm to the child.
Safe exchanges occur in neutral locations. Parents may remain separated during the exchange or may exchange the child under monitoring of the supervisor depending on the potential for conflict.
